Clear aligners are plastic trays that are customized to your teeth. Usually there are two aligners per set, one for your top teeth and one for your bottom teeth. They resemble mouthguards or nightguards but are more flexible to allow teeth to move to a desired position. An orthodontist will focus his/her attention to not only align your teeth but to make sure the bite and other dental characteristics are corrected too.
With clear aligner therapy, you will receive several sets of aligners. Each set of aligners are worn for a short period of time (ranges between 5 days to 2 weeks) before switching to the next set. As you go through each set, the aligners will put small pressures on your teeth, moving them to their ideal locations.
